Welcome to the Wallowa County Health Care District Website
Wallowa County is a great place to live and work, and the Health Care District, which includes Wallowa Memorial Hospital, plays a major part in our overall quality of life. In 2007, the new hospital opened. This state-of-the-art Level IV critical access hospital with 25 beds was a labor of love, and the entire community rallied around the Health Care District as it scrambled for funding and overcame obstacles so that our remote county would not only continue to have a hospital, but one that is the pride of the community. The new hospital offers a number of benefits. Now, patients receive care in a brand new building that is beautiful and as comfortable as home. Unlike the old hospital, built in 1950, the new building meets all modern codes and requirements, and features top-of-the-line equipment. The new hospital helped us attract top physicians from around the country, with impressive educational backgrounds and expertise that allowed us to expand and improve services in sports medicine, surgery, physical therapy, obstetrics and more. New services means health care is close to home, and residents no longer face a long drive out of the county. Although rural health care faced challenges, we met those challenges, and now our health care system is a model for other rural communities. As we continue to improve and expand health care services in Wallowa County, we invite you to join us. With many employment opportunities and no shortage of ways to contribute as a volunteer, we welcome you to the Wallowa County Health Care District, where we truly try to live up to our motto, We treat you like family. Sincerely,
