Message from our CEO, David Harman 
Welcome to the website for Wallowa County Health Care District, which owns and operates Wallowa Memorial Hospital (a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital) and Wallowa Valley Care Center (a 32 bed intermediate care facility). It's our pleasure to serve you, whether you're looking for employment, checking out the area, investigating services, or looking for a physician. While you are here, I would encourage you to look at our Mission Statement to see what we're about, and to look at the construction section to see photos of our newly constructed hospital.
We just opened our new hospital facility in the spring of 2007 and are excited about the benefits it brings to the community. In addition to the immediate benefit of improving the patient care environment, it also enhances our ability to recruit/retain quality healthcare professionals as well as gives us the opportunity to improve current services and to develop new services. As we consider new or improved services, our goal is to improve patient accessibility by allowing area residents to receive quality care locally.
One new service which opened in September is the High Peaks Sports Medicine Clinic with Dr. Brad Stephens. Dr. Stephens, an orthopedic surgeon, comes to Wallowa County from Lake Placid, NY, where he served as team physician for the women's Olympic hockey team. His sports medicine clinic will work in close concert with the hospital's Physical Therapy Department in order to quickly identify, correct and rehabilitate sports injuries.
As other service growth areas are being explored, I would invite you to become part of the process. From employment opportunities to volunteer positions with the Wallowa Valley Health Care Foundation, Friends of Health Care Hospital Auxiliary, and EMS, or even to elected/appointed positions with the governing authority, we solicit your help and input.
