bcawareness Help raise awareness for breast and other cancers at the annual Amy Hafer Race for Awareness. This event is held the fourth Saturday in June and offers a 1 mile walk/run, a 5k walk/run and a 10k run.

Perfect for all ages and abilities, this fun walk/run helps us raise awareness for the importance of healthy lifestyles and regular screenings as the best defense against breast and other cancers. Money donated by Tough Enough to Wear Pink of Chief Joseph Days Rodeo and Soroptomist of Wallowa County help fund mammograms and follow-up for local low-income women.

The Amy Hafer Race for Awareness was launched in 2008 to honor Amy Hafer, a 1989 graduate of Wallowa High School, who lost her 18 month battle with breast cancer on November 25, 2007. The Race promotes health and early detection through regular check-ups and important screenings such as mammography and colonoscopy.
